Public Education in Palm Beach County, Florida

Ventus Charitable Foundation believes that public education should be the engine of opportunity for all students in our community and supports teachers and students in Palm Beach County’s high needs public schools.  Programs include the following:
  • Red Apple Supplies: Founding and supporting this free resource store for teachers in public schools, a program of the Education Foundation for Palm Beach County.
  • Hands On Learning:  Sample projects we have funded include supporting the award-winning Pahokee Middle Subaroos robotics team, funding the Eisenhower Elementary Young Environmental Stewards (“YES”) Program, and training teachers in multisensory teaching techniques to improve reading instruction for students with language-based learning issues.
  • English Language Learners: Supporting second grade students to improve and retain their English language abilities in fun, low stress summer program.

Democracy and Civic Engagement

At Ventus Charitable Foundation, we empower people to be active participants in their communities, whether defined as a place or shared identity or interest.  And empower those communities to have a meaningful voice in an inclusive democracy.  Working in partnership with local, state, and national organizations, we support the following non-partisan activities:

  • Census 2030: As a founding member of Florida counts 2020, a statewide initiative to increase census participation across Florida, we recognize the importance of the decennial census as well as the other surveys conducted by the United State Census Bureau to the State and its economy, and to local communities.  We support census education and outreach, particularly to undercounted communities.
  • Citizen Advocacy:  Educating and promoting an active constituency – one that speaks up about the direction it wants government to take and what policies the government needs to follow.  Teaching people how to communicate effectively with elected officials, to hold officials accountable for their campaign promises, and to contribute to public policy discussions.
  • Public Service: Identifying and mentoring potential community leaders through training and support, encouraging them to become leaders in their communities and potentially to run for public office.
  • Voter Education & Mobilization:  Providing information to voters on where and how they can vote, their voter rights, and where they can find information on candidates and issues so they can make thoughtful ballot choices.
  • Civic Infrastructure:  Supporting communities working together for improvement.  Supporting nonprofits and the nonprofit infrastructure in Palm Beach County to create a stronger, more collaborative civic engagement environment.

If you are engaged in any of the above activities and have a great idea to share, reach out. Ventus Charitable Foundation is interested in hearing it.
